The one take thing is not a gimmick in my opinion, it's a natural step up from Birdman. "Oh, that one take movie was pretty good, let's add it to. I don't know. a war movie and let's get that new Oscar winner Rodger Deakins to be the cinematographer." I already talked about the score and when I saw the trailers for this I thought that the two leads split up and were going to meet up in the end. Then I was slapped in the face with one of the most heart wrenching moments of 2019, when Blake was stabbed and bleeding out the acting was great. When he takes out the photo and just stares at it asking Scofield to comfort him just got to me. Also the inventiveness to keep this movie running smoothly was amazing, the Night Window peeling back to let the camera meet up with Scofield, hidden pathways in the barb wire that allowed the cameramen follow the actors through No Man's Land. Also, I may be thinking about it the wrong way, but the movie ended almost the same way it began only Scofield is stripped of what he once had, his helmet, equipment, and friend, all showing the weight and effort that went into this mission. Great movie.

It's really like a game of clearance, the audience has a similar immersive experience. The story is too simple and the depth is lacking, but the technical aspects are too powerful.
